Our Founder: Dr. Mona Pervil-Ulysse, MD

The Caribbean Rheumatology Foundation Research and Care was established under the visionary leadership of Dr. Mona Pervil-Ulysse, MD. With a profound commitment to advancing rheumatology in the Caribbean, Dr. Pervil-Ulysse is a prominent figure in the medical community. She serves as the Director of the Student/Employee Health Service and holds the position of Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Pervil-Ulysse is also the Division Chief of Rheumatology at Interfaith Medical Center and a dedicated Rheumatology Attending Physician at NYP/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Her extensive experience and expertise in autoimmune diseases have positioned her as a leader in the field. Recognizing the urgent need for specialized rheumatology education and training in the Caribbean, Dr. Pervil-Ulysse founded the Caribbean Rheumatology Foundation Research and Care. Her mission is to equip physicians with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve the diagnosis and treatment of autoimmune diseases. Through innovative fellowship programs and community outreach initiatives, she aims to foster a new generation of rheumatology specialists dedicated to enhancing patient care throughout the Caribbean. Under Dr. Pervil-Ulysse's guidance, the foundation strives to create a lasting impact in the region, transforming the approach to rheumatology and ensuring that healthcare professionals are prepared to meet the challenges of autoimmune diseases head-on.

ROADMAP

Identify Qualified Faculty: Recruit experienced rheumatologists from Downstate University and the Rheumatology Foundation to serve as online instructors. Provide Faculty Training: Offer training to faculty members on online teaching methodologies and educational technologies. Develop Mentorship Programs: Establish mentorship programs to pair Haitian medical students with experienced rheumatologists.
